OLD BUSINESS
Minutes from the St. Louis meetings in 1999: Read and accepted as written.

Elections/Business meeting: There were no elections in 2001, therefore a business meeting cannot be held at this congress. However, at the congress banquet the president will report on ongoing business.

Membership: Membership is down about 16% since 1999. Even though, it appears that the figures are not up to date and the actual membership higher than assumed. The need for a membership campaign was emphasized. The president will contact the secretary.

Treasurer/Secretary: no report.

Editorial report: Dr. L. Soderstrom reported on recent issues of the Bryological Times.

Awards:
The Hattori Prize for best bryological publication during the past two years by an IAB member: Jean A. Paton for her book entitled The Liverwort Flora of the British Isles.
Richard Spruce Award for important contributions to bryology within the first 25 years of his career by an IAB member: William Buck

Editor of Bryological Times: The editor has resigned. The president thanked Dr. Soderstrom for his excellent service to the Association. Next editor to be appointed soon.
 

NEW BUSINESS
Plans for Endangered Species Fund: it was proposed to have a satellite meeting on endangered species and bryophyte harvesting at the next IAB meeing in Merida,. Funds to be used for inviting key persons.
